The West Michigan advertising industry doled out a number of ADDY awards last night in Grand Rapids.

The American Advertising Federation of West Michigan announced the winners of its 2017 ADDY Awards at New Vintage Place, and Walker-based Meijer won the Best of Show award for its Christmas ad, “Do You See What I See.”

The 1.5-minute spot was praised by Adweek, The CW Network and Fast Company as one of the best holiday ads of 2016. It was created by Chicago-based ad agency The Distillery Project and aired from November through Christmas.

The ADDY Awards ceremony drew about 400 members of the advertising industry and their clients.

West Michigan professionals earned 16 gold, 14 silver and 28 bronze ADDY awards.

Entrants in the student category from Kendall College of Art and Design, Ferris State University, Baker College and Grand Valley State University took home eight gold, six silver and 48 bronze student ADDY awards.

This year’s big winners were Extra Credit Projects, with nine awards, Meijer, with eight awards, Fairly Painless Advertising, with five awards, Gorilla, with five awards, and The Image Group, with five awards.
