The West Michigan advertising industry celebrated its achievements this past year with more than 200 awards.

More than 400 people gathered last night for the 2018 ADDY Awards, hosted by the American Advertising Federation of West Michigan.

Students from Kendall College of Art and Design and Grand Valley State University earned seven gold, 11 silver and nine bronze Student ADDY Awards, while West Michigan professionals picked up 41 gold, 55 silver and 78 bronze ADDY Awards.

The 2018 Best of Show ADDY Professional Award was given to “Some Angels Fight” by Baas Creative. “Hank’s Branding Campaign” by KCAD student Chlöe Malmquist won the 2018 Best of Show Student ADDY Award.

Judges Choice ADDY Awards went to “Some Angels Fight” by Baas Creative, “Inappropriate Cat” by Fairly Painless Advertising and “Atmosphere Sky” by Gorilla Productions.

Judges also nominated three students’ advertising projects for the Judges Choice ADDY Awards. They include “Focus on Flint,” by Gabrielle Podkul, “Lamb Bridge Catalog,” by Laura Bosscher, and Chlöe Malmquist’s “Hank’s Branding Campaign.” All three are KCAD students.

Overall, Chop & Hue earned 32 ADDY awards, followed by Meijer with 30, Extra Credit Projects with 24 and Gorilla Productions with 18.
