The Face of Change: 2023 International Earth Day Campaign from Extra Credit Projects is rooted in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH, WASHINGTON D.C. —Advertising agency Extra Credit Projects (ECP), in partnership with EARTHDAY.ORG and the Out of Home Advertising Association of America (OAAA) is bringing international awareness to Earth Day.

For the second year, the theme “Invest in Our Planet” aims to drive positive climate action to a broad audience of businesses, governments and individuals, encouraging viewers to “Be the Face of Change” for the planet.

Distributed via OAAA member companies, the message is live on digital out of home (OOH) units coast to coast. The designs will also have placements internationally through OOH media partners on 27,000+ digital locations in India and South Africa.

“The OOH industry has the incredible ability to be a force for good in amplifying important messages at massive scale with rapid speed,” said Anna Bager, President and CEO, OAAA. “With nine out of 10 adults noticing OOH ads, this critical campaign is sure to reach and resonate with consumers across the country.”

“Climate change is one of the most important issues of our time and we all play a vital role in addressing this crisis,” said Tom Cosgrove, Chief Creative and Content Officer, EARTHDAY.ORG. “OAAA, its members, and ECP understand the need for a healthy planet in order to build a better tomorrow and we’re grateful for the continued partnership again this year.”

Extra Credit Projects is also honoring its hometown of Grand Rapids this Earth Week by coordinating a clean-up along the city’s north boundary. “Typically, these clean-ups are orchestrated in area parks and public spaces, but we saw the greatest need in our own neighborhood on the fringe of the city,” said Jackie Foss, Media Director at ECP. “To add this physical exercise locally, to the global promotion of the Earth Day PSA advertising, is a true manifestation of our agency’s mission to always give extra.”
